So I Always apply my makeup in my bathroom. I have a light fixture directly above the mirror that has three light bulbs on it... I am always scared that when I apply my makeup that it is going to look completely different outside in the natural light. My question is what kind of light bulb is recommended to use while applying makeup? Also I hope someone has an opinion/advice for me... I always post legitimate questions and never get any replies... Thanks!

Thanks! You are literally the first person who has given me advice on here... And I have literally posted at least five questions over the last week :)

I would think a fluorescent one! I bought a mirror and sit by a window! Haha.

I have a vanity set right next to a window...I use that natural lighting...sometimes if its early am and dark I don't do a dramatic look on eye for that reason only. just basic foundation, blush, eye liner mascara.... I have done that before , when I got to work and sun was rising I freaked... lol so I'm taking mookey's advice and buying new bulbs.

I have the same issue when I apply my makeup in the bathroom. I find the best place to apply my makeup is right next to the window using the natural light. I'm not sure what kind of light bulb would change that, but I am curious.

I also have my vanity set right by my window, because I prefer to use natural lighting. I think my makeup looks better when I've applied it under natural light. It also looks more natural. So if you can, I think it's best to go with natural light. If not, the best kind of lighting mimics sunlight since it's the purest light. It's also the most unforgiving - perfect for makeup application so that you don't miss a thing. There are some makeup mirrors out there that have a dimmer so that you can change the intensity of the light depending on the time of day. There are also other types that have different settings for different life situations (like office, inside, outside, night time etc). Also, when you are applying makeup, it's best to have a light source that is straight in front of you, because overhead lighting and lighting from behind will cast shadows on your face (almost all makeup mirrors are designed to eliminate this problem). If you're looking to buy new bulbs, look for ones that are labeled "daylight spectrum" or "natural light". If you're really, really serious about getting all the lighting spot on (wattage types, shielded fixtures etc.), talk to a lighting expert!

I'm definitely looking for a better type of bulb to use... And I agree that having the lights above you casts a lot of shadows which is annoying... It's not always possible for me to use natural light in the bathroom, it's just not reliable and I hate struggling to see if the light isn't bright enough. I will definitely be on the look out for natural light light bulbs. Thanks for all of your detailed answers! I really appreciate it!

I have a makeshift vanity set up in my bedroom. I have a light up mirror and sit right in front of a window. So I kinda get both lights?

Natural light is the best for applying makeup. However, if that is not an option opt for light bulbs that say DAYLIGHT on the packaging. That's what I use for filming.
