Hi guys! I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to get ride of blemishes on oily skin. I have tried so many products. Most suggested to me contain oily substance that have only made my skin worse.A few things that I have tried are Ambi, Shea Butter, Coco Butter, Bio oil, Mederma, Dudu Osan, Coconut oil, Proactive the list goes on but I need you help. The testing gets a bit pricey . Thanks SO much for your help in advance. (:

I make a lot of homemade facials and skin care products. Ive learned for myself and using on other people. Boil some organic grown green tea, steep it for at least 5 minutes and apply it to clean skin as a toner. Ive watched blemishes heal within hours. I have seb. derm on my face and it has helped heal and reduce blemishes. AND I just recently made some for my boss whom suffers from oily skin/ acne and she absolutely loves the balance and glow she gets and people have complimented her.. Its really important to keep the skin balanced. You can add lavendar oil, honey....whatever suits you but its def worth a try!

I have used raw honey but never a mask. I do like using natural products. My skin is also fairly sensitive. Thank you Kimberly M.

Have you tried using a Clarisonic? I tested out the new Clarisonic Acne Clarifying Collection (review is on my YouTube channel, just click the link below.)

The acne wash from Clarisonic is not that great, but if you use the Mia2 with Cetaphil or something along those lines, it is absolutely amazing! A lot of the times us girls with acne prone skin (or anyone else for that matter), don't realize how much product is actually left on our face just from using hands and a wash cloth to cleanse... It's amazing!! It has helped keep my skin under control and to deep clean.

My breakouts have totally minimized since I have been using it about two months ago.... not 100% clear but definitely a BIG improvement! The Clarisonic is considered pricey to some people though but I have seen commercials for drug-store/cheaper alternatives from other companies you may want to check out....

Have a good day ladies =)

Water with sea salt makes an awesome toner. Sea salt does wonders for healing things (it's what piercers even give you to take care of fresh piercings!) and it also helps dry out the oil. All you need is about a teaspoon and a half of sea salt to a little spritzer travel sized bottle full of warm water and spritz on your face after it's all clean.

raw honey with lemons! or this one (oatmeal, tomato and lemon juice) http://homeremediesblogger.blogspot.com/2012/03/face-mask-for-blemished-skin.html

Sea water helps to heal up the skin, so try to get half a cup of hot water and dissolving sea salt in it. Add a little at a time and keep stirring. When the salt stops to dissolve, wait for the temperature to become bearable on your skin and apply it with a cotton pad.

Natural lemon juice is also a great method. Cut a lemon in half and rub it on your face, letting it dry completely before rinsing it off.

And if you're desperate, apply rubbing alcohol with a Q-tip onto the spots/blemishes but make sure that they aren't open wounds! It will help to get rid of bacteria and dry out the blemish, which quickens the healing process.

Remember to use a good moisturiser after all of these method's because they all focus on healing and drying out your problems.

Ok I'm a med esthetician and I have worked for a surgical dermatologist for over 6 yrs and I managed the care for patients with moderate to severe acne with severe scarring. First thing is never spend alot o money at first try Nuetrogena acne wash it has salacylic acid in it which will all the skin to dry out which is what u want because ur skin produces to much oil and then as a toner use alcohol on a cotton swab at night or witch hazel as far as moisturiser u dont need it u have overactive oil glands so adding oil to it makes it worst as u have found . the next step if that doesnt work is maybe seeing a dermatologist just because they can give u things that can calm things down and then get u on a regimen that will allow to maintain which is covered by insurance . The thing about using natural products is that they are made from alot of plant resin's and that's fine but usually u dont know what will aggrevate the skin until u use them and u may be allergic to it I have seen more allergic reactions on the face from ppl using products with rose extract and this extract and that so try that simple technique first and see what happens but moisturiser is not ur friend if u feel like its too dry after u wash ur face and the alcohol wait about 30 min and let the natural oils in ur face accumulate before u put any makeup on . I am saying as a professional and also as someone that has oily skin as well also seeing a derm that have mild peels and other mild techniques that can exfoliate the skin safely which definitely helps with oily skin and blemishes

You need to use the Clinique Acne Solutions 3 step system! My skin is oily and I had blemishes too but this stuff really works! Because my skin is oily after I was my face and do all the steps, it will be dry but for like 10 minutes then it's regular because of the contrast. I also really love the clinique foaming cleanser mousse. It's really good if you wear foundation everyday, it really get's all the makeup off!

i tried out Biotherm and Clinique Acne Solutions and settled with Clinique. make sure you get the reformulated version (now it's called Anti-Blemish Solutions). the old Acne Solutions used to be drying, the new one is AWESOME! the new version of the moisturizer is velvety and the lotion doesn't smell like hard liquor anymore. :)

Dermalogica! They have an awesome oil control line. But, I would suggest getting the clearing cleansing wash to clear the acne, the the oil control moisturizer to lessen the oil. Good luck!

I have been using a system called 'Exposed Skincare' for about a year, and although my acne has not 100% disappeared, and I have had flare-ups, it is the only thing that has kept my skin under control in the past 14 years. I am very thankful to have found this particular system! I was suffering from cystic acne all down my jawline, chin, neck, chest and back. I have not had cystic acne since starting this system. I definitely have adult acne, so I'm not sure if you are in the same boat as me or not, but I do recommend it. I have some videos about it on my channel if you were keen to watch http://www.youtube.com/user/nekoaesthetic Other than than, I also really love natural things, such as lemon and green tea to help the skin, applied topically as a mask but also taken daily internally as a drink (I live on green tea, and have noticed a wonderful improvement in my skin!) I wish you the best of luck! Oily skin is the pits! lol

Hi Kiesha,
I'm a Esthetician and have oily and acne prone skin as well. All the products you mentioned you tried cause breakouts, clogged pores and makes oily skin even more oily. The Clarisonic Mia works wonders, deep cleans skin, decreases breakouts. Product wise I love Murad time release acne cleanser it doesn't strip the skin or irritate like many acne cleansers do (neutragena for example). + Murad acne exfoliating gel does wonders for oily and and breakouts. Make sure you are properly moisturizing your skin with a oil free FACE moisturizer. Not using a moisturizer will make your skin produce more oil. It will try and overcompensate for lack of moisture. Moisturizer: Cerave AM or Murad pore and line minimizer and/or Matte perfection spf 15 (a favorite see all the reviews online.)
Wishing you happy & healthy skin. =)
