Primer helps prevent creasing, keeps your eyeshadows on longer, and can even make your eyeshadow colors appear more pigmented depending on which one you get! :) Beautylish has an article about a bunch of different eyeshadow primers (it even includes a drugstore option!) that I found to be very helpful. :)
