I already have some great lipsticks that I feel would look wonderful matte. So my question is, is there any tricks to making any lipstick matte?

Use lip balm a bit before applying, then do your lip liner, then put a coat of lipstick, dab your lips then add another layer on top.

What I like to do is take my Burts Bees Original Lip Balm and apply a thick layer first| then I like to go ahead an apply my favorite lip color, gloss, tint, or stain| then after color application I like to use a blotting sheet and just dab it lightly| then you can take a matte pressed powder ( I use my RIMMEL STAY MATTE) or you can take matte eyeshadow that matches the color on your lips! And then your done and you can enjoy matte lips allday long
another good tip is to also line your with liner so the color and powders don't feather
