Hi girls I need help I'm 27 and I'm trying to find cute trendy clothes for my sister in law who is 19 who has down syndrome. I want her to dress her age ( she wants different clothes as well) and be cute trendy but not revealing bc she usually dresses like a 8 year old bc her father doesn't know how to dress her. any ideas? thanks.

Look for maxi dresses :) cute, fun, and not revealing. They're always in style for summer too.

Tell her to look at Ariana Grande for inspiration. She's 19 and she dresses so girly and femininely

Ange, I mean this with the best intentions, but how is your sister in law proportioned? I know many women with downs frequently do not have the same body shape as a typically developing adult. keep her stature in mind if she if petite, and keep her size needs in mind if her hips or thighs are large. most important, ask her what style she likes. take her to a store like kohls that has youthful clothing in many sizes and let her find her own personal style.

Hi Diana, my sil is very petite about 4'9 slightly bottom heavy. I try on lots of different outfits I just never know if it looks age appropriate or if it looks like I'm dressing her like me.

Ange, I am a case worker for the developmentally disabled, so forgive me if I seem too nosy. It's hard to be fashionable sometimes, meet the size criteria, and be able to step back and give her the freedom to decide she may want to wear a shirt w Justin Bieber on it, her friends probably are. I don't know how much support she needs, and you deserve a million hugs for being there for her. don't worry too much about her fashion. make sure she is making the choice as much as possible, and that she looks neat and clean. past of her being an adult isn't what she wears, but that she gets to choose what she wears. thanks for listening.
