I have always been the type of person to only trust hairstylists when it comes to cuttings (I do boxed dyes most begrudgingly as I'm a broke fake redhead) but as it stands right now I've got 20 dollars to live on for the next few weeks and I'm massively overdue for a trim. I've got awful split ends and desperately need to cut it but I'm so nervous to do it myself since a traumatic attempt when I was 8 that makes me beg you kind girls for any tips, tricks, advice, etc.here today~
Does anyone know of any (preferably video) tutorials out there? I'd like to give my bangs new life as well, I usually do side swept but am open to anything other than awkwardly half grown out.
This picture is the most recent I've taken if that gives anyone an idea as to what it looks like styled now. :)

I'd ask a friend or family member with a lot of patience and a steady hand to give me a microtrim. You may need to borrow an excellent, sharp pair of scissors from someone as well.

I always cut my own hair, just look at a YouTube tutorial. I basically pin my hair up and let bits down at a time and cut short to long, basically when its all done, it will go in a V shape when you move your hair to the back.

You can throw your head upside down, brush all your hair down straight while its upside down make sure it's all brushed down, get some scissors and cut
Across, as much as you want, then when you put your head back up your hair will have a nice v shape to it and your split ends at the bottom will be gone

Hi, I'm a cosmetologist! I feel your pain! I hate letting other people cut my hair, its super thick and I'm very picky- and now that I'm a cosmetologist as well I get mad when they don't hold their shears the way I want them to!
I suggest making horizontal sections, starting in the back, split them down the middle and bring them forward. Point your shears parallel to your hairs tips and trim as much as you deem is needed. This technique is called point cutting, it will take longer to trim all of your hair than doing a blunt cutting line but the results will be softer and its a much more forgiving technique. So if you make a mistake it will be less noticeable. Try to follow the line that is already in your hair too. Good luck!
