Can we please distinguish between genuine rudeness and people being oversensitive? I have seen countless times when someone posts an opinion (politely) that dissents from the original poster, and suddenly a group of vigilante posters start calling them rude, nasty, bitch, etc. and saying they don't belong on the site. When did we lose the ability to express any comment that isn't "wow, fabulous" on posts? I'm not saying that being nasty is okay, not by a long shot; but we need to lose this insular, hyper-positive fa?ade. It hurts more people to give a falsely positive comment than to give constructive criticism and genuine feedback.

I have been bullied on beautylish because of my age. She said that beautylish is only for people 18+ and I'm 13. So she would not leave me alone about it. And she made rude comments on how I looked. But for some reason she changed her name and profile picture to 2 completely different people. I really don't understand why people can be so mean!

I haven't really encountered it. There is a difference between constructive criticism and rudeness though.

@Emily W
Exactly! I would never purposefully be mean or nasty to someone, but I find when my opinion differs from the crown I just don't post at all because I'm too worried that people will get all worked up about it. It's sad that we don't have the ability to post our opinions without being worried that we'll get yelled at.
However, I have seen some people on here who are actually seriously rude and the best thing to do is just flag them. I think you can only do that on the computer though. :/

Totally agree with that. I do think people take it too personally tho.

I agree with Emily - you know there is no way to tell someones emotions through reading text - so what may be taken as rudeness is really just someone taking words too personally - I think we all need to take a step back and analyze the situation logically before we go accusing people of being rude when really they may just be trying to be helpful - everyone is entitled to their own opinion no one person is right or wrong and if someone is really being rude then just call them out on it - we all have the right to freedom of speech so if everyone would just try to be a little more understanding and take the things people say with a grain of salt we all will be much better off - I hope everyone has a wonderful day and don't let others put you down - thanks!

Its never happened to me but I have realized that when I see the bullying or rude comments it directed toward the younger beautylishers. Which tells you something about these bullies they are weak and pick on who they think they can intimidate. Sad people they are. Trying to break down these teenage girls.

I think Emily makes a great point. So many people gang up on others under the guise of sticking up for the poster. If you have a differing opinion, you should be free to make it. However, there are some examples that can't be justified at all really. For example, on the post about plastic surgery today, someone attacked another poster's looks out of the blue, despite it being an open discussion of whether or not you'd had surgery. It wasn't a should I have surgery or an OOTD or really something where you could have an opinion of someone else and the girl/woman (couldn't tell her age) just provided an unsolicited harsh opinion of another commenting poster. I was really shocked. I'm all for freedom of speech, but this was pretty hateful and totally unrelated to the original post. I really would love to see a flag button on the app.

You guys no the difference between what's right to say an what's not this whole convo was started today because someone thought it was ok to tell someone else they should get plastic surgery because they were ugly an went on an on about how it's fine to say someone is ugly if they are now luckily this was a grown women on the receiving end an she is fine with who she is but what if its a child people are bullied every day to the point where some take their own lives so noooo its not like sayin I don't like that lipstick with that dress if you don't no the difference between the two well I don't no what that says about you!

Luckily I haven't experienced it first hand, but I have seen a lot of rude people here, and sometimes they get all rude because of really insignificant things. I'm sorry you had to go through that Kylie, and anyone else who has gone through this as well. the best thing is to ignore, flag and report. its not worth it getting into a discussion with a rude person. have a good one ladies ;-)
