Primer... hmm I should have thought of that lol. I agree that a healthy diet contributes greatly to healthy skin. I notice when i drink sodas I get a pimple so i tend to stay away from sodas lol. I am picking up great information on how to use and where to buy make up. I am still learning how to use the products that I am actually happy with. However, I have no clue about brushes. I currently use ecotools special edition kabooki brushes and they work well based of my very little experience with brushes. Oh well, I guess I have a lot to learn :)

A primer is good to use but not always neccersary if ur just geting started go simple until u learn more about each product and when I said a healthy diet I meant just lots of veggies and fruits and alot of water lol the misconception to bad skin is that the cause is greasy foods and chocolate and sodas which no research has proven any of this but as with any thing the healthy growth of hair, nails and skin comes from the inside out so even if u had an excellent eating habits but were taing meds of some sort u could still have bad skin so u would counter act that with vitamins but I can go and on the main thing now is try a product line like MAC that has a good range of colors to match a darker skin type with a yellow base because that's what the majority of darker skin types are made warm yellow tones and develop a good skin care regimen and go from there with educating urself about other products. Brushes are great and eco tools are good to start I say only invest in an expensive set if u are really into makeup

I believe that just because something costs more doesn't make it better. If you what you have available to you are drugstores then go to your drugstore. Sure Mac is nice, but you have no availability to it. My guess is a you're a newbie!! and just like anything else in life, it takes trial and error and practice. You don't have oily skin so my guess is that your using the wrong type of foundation for your skin. There are oil based, water based and silicone based foundations. If the loreal one your using is slipping which is a oil free water base, try a silicone base and see if that sticks a little better. A good one? Revlon colorstay. You can also try a primer, Maybelline makes one that rivals smashbox's. And remember most drug stores will take back opened products...it wasn't your color? you didn't like the way you feel? keep your receipt and take it back and exchange it for another one ;)

Actually Salt Z. being of a darker skin tone it does matter what type of foundation u purchase alot of darker toned women such as myself can not just go in the drug store and pick up a good foundation without looking what I call " casket ready" meaning chalky and pale it matches in some lights but they never give u a natural look also most women with a darker skin tone have somewhat oily skin (hence the saying black don't crack) and that's because we have more melanin in our skin and themore melanin or pigment u have the more oils u produce and a primer unless u are familiar with it is a waste of money and instead of going through the hassle of returning foundation over and over again which is costly and time consuming why not spend a little of ur time and allow a professional to match ur skin properly especially since she is a "newbie" and they will also educate on the best way to apply her foundation and answer any other questions she may have and MAC and other higher ends more than welcome ur returns I beleive in spending money where its going to be the most effective and when it comes to foundation u shouldn't have to play trial and error if there is help out there
