I did something similar and the colour fades really quick and if you keep redoing it it trashes your hair. Try it with clip in coloured pieces though for sure!

I had mine similar as well, but with purple...which fades beautifully into blonde..then platinum. Being that blonde is a big commitment, but your hair is light brown so you won't need the lift someone much darker would. Keep it trimmed and use a mask once a week...a leave in with Keratin like "It's a 10" when you do and don't go gonzo on washing or heat and you should be just fine. With a reputable salon, I'd absolutely go for it.
