Shauna try priming your lip first. I think there are products to do this, I just don't know which ones they are. I put Chapstick on then put lipstick on and it works!

Mac Prep+ Prime and Smiths Mint Rose lip balm are good primers.

Okay..to prevent this I gently exfoliate my lips with my toothbrush...then apply a balm or sugar scrub. You can do this as part of your bedtime routine. I apply my lip color very lightly...then place my clean index finger between my lips and press my lips together to remove the excess. Wait a few minutes and repeat. Five minutes later...I ever so lightly mist them with a setting spray. Urban Decay's Dew Me has the staying power of their All Nighter, without the dryness. No more lines for me! This works especially with stains. I've also broken the habit of rubbing lips together after application as my index finger trick works great for me. Also...keep in mind that our skin is all so different that one brand that works beautifully for some gal, may not work for you..so perhaps another brand is needed. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable has great color and using my method..I require maybe one or two touch ups over a 15 hour period..even when I have eaten, drank, smooched, etc. Hope that helps!

Thank you!! I actually don't exfoliate my lips so maybe that's the problem. I always apply a lip balm before I apply my lipstick yet not matter what brand of lipstick I use it literally just won't go on that part of my lip. Not even a hint of that colour will go on it. Hopefully by exfoliating it will make it go on.

I personally never apply balm *just* before application because for me, the color just slides all over. I normally balm up heavily at night and then a light application of balm in the AM after I shower. That kinda let's it soak in while I'm drying hair or applying my other make-up/curling hair, etc. If there is any left on my lips, I just lightly wipe it off so that the surface is smooth, but not "balmy". I swear by the blotting on my index finger and setting spray. I used to have the same trouble and since I wear a lot of reds, it was so noticeable. Made me nuts! Good luck. :)
