BB stands for beauty balm or blemish balm. It's foundation plus SPF plus skin care. It began as a Korean product, made its way to Japan, and has now hit the US. Check out the blog Musings of a Muse. That girl has done her homework and is obsessed with BBs.

Actually, it began as a German product in the 50s and then was introduced to South Korea and Japan 30 years later, then making its way to the rest of Asia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BB_cream
