Foil the light parts and dye whatever isn't in the foils the dark color. When you rinse your hair do NOT remove the foils until the water runs a clear as it can do that the black doesn't bleed. If you dye your hair black first you will have to process the highlights longer and probably twice because black is the hardest to lift.
