If you're a natural dark hair, you will need to bleach your tips with a 3% vol peroxide and blue bleach powder. Add a small amount (a tablespoon or two) and double that amount with peroxide, mix then apply to tips (as far as you'd like them to be). Wait 45 minutes then rinse. Depending on your timing, you can go straight for the dye but I'm going to guess that you will get this brass copper shade after bleaching which means you'll need to get silver shampoo and it'll tone that right down after two to five washes. THEN. You can go ahead and tip dye whatever shade you'd like.
You can also just add intense red or purple dye and it should show up but in a more natural shade.
If you already have light tips, skip the bleach steps and go onto dyeing it.
