I'm not sure I've had a bad experience as well. Maybe 5 years so when I was in school the bleach pretty much fried my hair, had to cut it all off which I was left with 1/2 inch.glad I only dyed tugger under part of hair head not entire head like I originally wanted.

Like most salons are overpriced without reason. I lived in Shanghai for 6 years and I've had very talented people cut and style and dye my hair (all very sanitary) for like not even an eighth of the price I pay here in Europe. It's a joke, really. Nowadays I just prefer to get a haircut at a somewhat reasonably priced salon and dye my own hair. It still looks nice and I don't have to bankrupt myself!

It depends, in the hundreds I think is reasonable. But I get mine done at my moms friends salon, so I get a discount.

My friend who works at SuperCuts does my hair and it's $15.95 and I started going to her because it seemed ridiculous to pay $50 to get less than an inch cut off. When I got my hair professionally colored it cost anywhere between $75 and $150.

You could find a student to do it, or if you know anyone that works there! Also if you work somewhere that cross advertises with a salon or is on the same block as them you'll probably get a discount

At the new place I go $35 for a haircut, and $60+ for color (my stylist used to work in a very VERY nice salon downtown but she doesn't anymore because of the commute). I stopped going to ulta because my stylist messed up my hair. There we used to pay $170+ for cut and color and that's with a 50% off discount.

At sally's they have hair dye that is meant for dark hair to be turned light without bleaching, its from loreal. Maybe you can look into that if you want

I'm willing to pay...zero. My mother is a cosmetologist of 25 years. Yet I only allow her to do maintenance for my hair. I do my own styles and I have had everything from a pixie cut to 28" long extensions to red hair. I even experiment with coloring, braiding, and installing extensions. I have never paid for a hair service in my life and I plan to keep it that way 😀
