I was trying to do french tip and after applying a top coat little bubbles started to form when it dried could it be from applying to thickly? or too many coats? or could it just be from the top I'm using?

I heard that shaking the bottle causes that. So instead of doing that, try rolling your polish on its sides. I've also read that having fans/wind can cause that to happen.

Yes don't shake you bottle or pump you wand in and out because it'll great air pockets inside of the polish. Also apply thin coats one at a time and make sure you let it dry completely before you apply the next coat. If it persists I'd just go get a new top coat

I read somewhere that the room temperature where the nail polish is kept actually causes that. Try putting the bottle in the fridge or keeping it in a much cooler area.

Here's a great YouTube video that talks specifically about nail bubbles and how to avoid them. It's like less than 2 minutes.

... or low quality of polish, few minutes ago I've read that before closing the bottle it's good to blow into, and CO2 will make oxigen exit the polish so there shouldn't be any bubbles:-)
