Messy buns can't be "perfect"
I usually tease or use second day old hair and put it loosly in a bun!!
I would tell you how but my ways really hard to explain

My secret to a messy bun is to make a ponytail, fold it down around itself (kind of like you would do with a hair donut) and wrap a rubber band around it, then pin it how you want. It works great for me and my hair is below my shoulders. The more you tease or shake and spray the ponytail before you wrap it, the better and messier.
