Hi girls I was wondering if anyone knows of any good semi permanent hair color remover. I usually let my hair fade out but I dont really like how faded hair looks with this aqua color I have on. Thanks! =]

I'm not sure of brand names but you can find a few at Sally's beauty supply....

I would not recommend using a color stripper. I had red hair and I stripped it then dyed it a turquoise/aqua color. I thought "stripping my red color was so easy, so if I don't like the blue/green, I can just strip it with no issues!"
That was definitely not the case. Strippers are used to shrink dye molecules in hair, and most, if not all unnatural colors are vegetable stains, not dyes, so the color removers do not take out blue, green, purple, pink, whatever.
Before I found out that strippers do not work on unnatural colors or vegetable stains, I did use "Extra Strength Color Oops" and that did not work at all. Color Oops can be great because it is ammonia and bleach free... but my aqua didn't lighten even the tiniest bit. That's when I discovered all of this research. I then tried "One n' Only: Colorfix," which does contain ammonia. I wanted the best results possible, so I followed the directions exactly. It lifted the color the slightest bit (but still, hardly noticeable), but the last part of the directions calls for applying a processing lotion. The processing lotion step turned my hair even darker than the color I started with! Though my hair wasn't completely damaged, I was pretty mad my pretty aqua color was darker and "sewer water" looking after using ammonia and potentially damaging my hair much more than I would have if I hadn't used it.
I eventually just bleached my hair until it lifted into a green that was light enough to dye over with red again. My hair was so damaged that any brand of dye I used could not hold. I let that fade enough for me to go to a professional to lift everything so I could dye it silver since going any darker than a light blonde was not an option afterwards.
I spent hours and hours reading other peoples experiences and information about strippers on blue/green hair, and almost everything I read came to the same conclusion: hair color removers do not work for this.

You can try fading it faster by using a purifying shampoo. I use the Ion brand's clarifying shampoo and it works brilliantly at fading my colors faster, so that is my recommendation for your situation. You can also research others, that may be easier to find in your area. There are a few other "home remedy" options I read about. These home remedies include washing your hair with detergents and Dawn dish soap to fade it faster, but I was always too afraid to use these products because they are super super drying to your hair. There were a couple other options out there as well, but I didn't research them very much.

Here is a link for the Ion clarifying shampoo, it's not very expensive, and may be the best option for the integrity of your hair. http://www.sallybeauty.com/clarifying-shampoo/ION5,default,pd.html?cgid=Hair01

I've used color removers for red, purple, and pink hair... They lightened pretty well for me.

I've found that mixing crushed vitamin c pills with a chlorine removing shampoo works wonders. Just place in damp hair, cover in plastic, heat, let sit for about an hour, and most of it should be gone by the time you wash it out. I hope this helps.

thanks who knew this teal hair was going to be such a problem, I should have stuck to the lilac I had. I think I'll try the ion clarifying shampoo
