Typically 10 & 20 volume developers are used for lightening hair up to two shades. For lightening up to three or four shades a 30 volume developer is needed. I would recommend using the ION color from Sally's. It's highly pigmented and delivers beautiful results, they also sell the developer that goes with it. The associates there are also very helpful :) Make sure that whether you go to a salon or DYI you use a deep conditioning treatment on your hair. Hope I helped you some :)
