I doesn't hurt at all!
Butttttttt get it done with a hollow needle instead of the gun. The gun makes a skin pocket and it will be prone to infections.

I had mine done and it had a slight sting but nothing to cry about depends on your pain tolerance mine is pretty high.mine closed up though :( but on the bright side I'm getting it re-pierced so I can get my industrial piercing, can't wait and go ahead and get it done!:)

I have an industrial. Cartilage hurts less than a fleshy ear piercing at first. BUT there is a burning sensation during the first few days of healing that hurts a bit.

First off, there is a lot of cartilage; ears (the whole thing), nose (most of), etc, so in the future you should be more specific (not being mean). But whatever it is, no, it doesn't hurt, if it is the ear and you are afraid of it hurting then go for having it done with a gun.

I doesn't hurt but it takes a really long time to heal.

I have it. It doesn't hurt but after it feels kind of like weird haha.

Most places won't actually do it with a gun because it traumatizes the cartilage and causes that dreaded bump

Get it done with a needle if you get it done at all.

I do, it doesn't hurt that much, it's a quick pinch! But wearing really heavy earrings on it hurts like a mofo

DO NOT GET IT ANY CARTILAGINOUS TISSUE PIERCED WITH A GUN. it can shatter the cartilage and fuck things up. not worth the risk. piercing guns are really horrible and no real trained piercer would ever use one. go to a piercing parlor. make sure they autoclave everything and have sterilized needles. piercing guns are impossible to properly disinfect.

I've had mine pierced for years and it still hurts sometimes. Just be really careful that it's not going to be on the side you sleep on most.

I got mine pierced with a gun years ago. It didn't mess anything up, but I can't wear an earring in it overnight. Other than that, I have no problems with it.

I pierced cartilage, ears, on a daily basis, I'm a trained ear piercer for claire's we use studex basically what pierce the ear is the earring which is in a sterilized cartridge, so it's really safe, you have to be over 14 to get it done as before that there's a risk of shatter. the healing process is 12 weeks before you can change it, cleaning and twisting 3times daily, but it's only after 12 months that you can leave your earring out or else it may close. it's just a pinch but maybe unconfortable during your sleep and if your not careful getting dressed and such.also the stud must be gold, better 18ct but also 9 is fine, or titanium.

Completely agree with Elisa! I have twelve piercings in my ears, all done with a gun by a shaky old lady. Lol I was such a rebel. I got then done over ten years ago. none if them hurt but the higher up you go takes longer to heal. Good luck!

I would advise against it I had 2 in my upper ear that never healed even after 5 months! It got to the point where I couldn't even sleep on them so I just took them out I would much rather get a second lobe piercing

I had mine pierced with a gun and then years down the line had my traguses done with a needle and there is absolutely a difference in my opinion. The ones I had done with a gun were awful. Always infected, sore and just irritating no matter what I did. I also got the bumps with them as well. My traguses were the complete opposite. They are the most comfortable piercing I have, they healed wonderfully and have never been any trouble. I highly recommend getting anything you get pierced done with a needle. That's just my experience though, I'm sure people can have success with the guns but for me it was absolutely not worth it. So in my opinion if you're going to get it done at all, get it done right the first time and just go with a needle.

Needle for sure , I have myn done and don't regret it at all it barely hurt, just felt like Indian rug burn but on my ear. I got myn done with a needle! Do not get it done with the gun! It can leave a black lump from the cartilage shattering. I never take it out. I never have a problem with it I can wear straight or curved rods sometimes I do get a throbbing feeling, but it goes away. I have has it for 3 years. Just keep it clean and take good care of it. But it's totally worth it.

It doesn't hurt at all! You should definitely pierce your cartilage if you want. Don't let the thought of whether its going to be painful stop you. :)

A cartilage piercing takes up to a year to fully heal, I did mine with a manual gun (gentle like a needle) not a spring gun which makes the shooting sound
