I was going through the other conversations here, but I haven't gotten the answer I'm looking for, therefore I have started a new one.
I am a beauty blogger (http://rachelshuchat.blogspot.ca/) and makeup artist specializing in bridal makeup. I am finishing up my foundation, which I never liked using, and so I'm looking for a new brand to buy.
1) What brand foundation would you suggest for brides? (No spf, etc, it really has to be a good one, long lasting, and everything!)
2) If you own it, how many shades do you have? (I normally have about 4 shades, is that enough?)
3) Where is the best place to buy it?

Thanks for taking the time to answer me,
xx Rachel

I'm hardly a pro, having only done bridal twice, so take my opinion for what it's worth. Both weddings were in very hot weather (NY in August and LA in early October) and I used MAC pro long wear foundation and set with MUFA HD powder. Both came out great and stayed put through outdoor ceremonies and receptions.
I'd probably get 4-5 shades. That should be enough to custom mix just about anything.

I have gone through different types of foundation. I have used MAC, Armani, Laura Mercier....currently I have Bobbi Brown in 10+ shades...mostly because I got it for free so If I had to pick my favorite it would be the Armani Lasting Silk...You can really get away with using most types provided you prep (base) and set (powder) properly. Nothing too "hydrating" though, brides tend to stay a warmer temp on their wedding day with all the excitement and you don't want them to melt away ;-)

Rachel!! Hourglass is an excellent foundation that really looks like real gorgeous flawless skin. Its sold at Sephora. It does however have spf in it, but it is parben free, chemical free, dye free and it has hylauronic acid in it! I have used it on the most sensitive of skin and i have had no complaints. Try a sample out at you're local Sephora! I also like the Make up for ever HD foundation and HD powder. A tiny bit of this powder shrinks pores for the day and brightens skin! Also....lol cause i can't get enough of fantastik products, the new Kat Von D foundation is so gorgeous and smoothing on the skin. It really makes the skin look airbrushed with just a tiny amount. Pair that with the Sephora #55 brush and you will have dream boat skin!

I forgot to mention Clinique's Super matte liquid foundation is great for a oily skin. It does a good job of smoothing skin, while making it matte and i have noticed it will make pores look smaller. This is a good option for people who do not wish to have a dewy or glowy look to them.

Every mua pro i know swears by face atelier. Expensive but little goes a long way. Mufe and yaby are also great.

Rachel, what are you using now? Do you airbrush? Also take into consideration your potential client's skin type - not only brand - when looking for long wearing products.

I was kind of hoping everyone would suggest the same one or two foundations, therefore narrowing down the list for me, but I'm as confused as ever!
Right now, I'm using the brand I got when I got my kit in school, but it's mostly finished. I love Mac for myself, so maybe that's what I'll go with.

Be careful with Mac , esp for oily skinned and combination types. It can really cause damage on the skin ESP on a humid or hot day.

For brides I use OCC airbrush mini sets in y they're 6 in the set and range from super light to dark so i think its perfect! I used to use it with airbrush machine but now all I do is conceal very well and apply the foundation with a beauty blender and looks great!!! Hope this helps
