I need real help. I'm trying to get my hair as light as possible to dye it a really intense purple. I've been trying for a month and I just can't get my hair as light as I need it to be to get the intensity I'm going for. I've tried a soapcap, I've done straight bleach, heat and no heat, and my hair is still a light Carmel color. Do you have any tips for getting your hair super light? Is there a reason I can't get am hair to lift?

Try using a toner on your hair. If you use a violet based toner or toning shampoo, it could possibly help. I use Wella Color Charm Toner in shade T18 with a 20 Volume cream developer... the developer will lift the color a tiny bit while depositing some violet pigment in your hair so it should counter act any yellow or orangey tones in your hair... I think you're hair may be getting quite light, but it may be hard to tell since it probably still has those orangey/yellowy tones in it.

You're probably not using enough black your hair must be drenched in it.
