First make sure you're committed to it, if it's freelance then just go for it but if its commercial or runway then think long and hard. It's a demanding industry that involves high stress and constantly watching your weight.
But to get started, find an agency near you on google or yelp.
On their site they usually have a tab for what pics to send in, and when you email in some pics of yourself, you wait.
If they're interested they'll probably call you for an interview. Take it from there! Good luck xoxo :)

My older son is a model/actor and they want simple pics. No bikini shots. A simple headshot with no crazy background...simple makeup (nothing distracting) and a full body shot. A fitted tee and slim fitting jeans is favored. And no jewelry. And age...doesn't matter as his agency signed him on before he knew the significance of it. And if they like you they will send you out to build the portfolio. May Ann's advice is not 100% correct. Whatever you do please get your parents involved in every aspect of it because there are more fraudulent agency's out there than legit agency's.
