I think it looks ok if I were you I would wear plain denim shorts but you can wear it like that if you want. I love the shorts!

like the shorts with a plain white, blue or beige tee
or the shirt with khaki, white or blue shorts

No but if you pull the shirt down a little the shirts wouldn't be fully seen.
