Okay so I love everything about this app and I love all the advice you gals give :) but ONE thing that really bugs me is when a 10-13 year old girl asks advice on make up and EVERYONE bags on her and tells her that shes to young and Blah Blah Blah.. it really makes me mad.. I mean you don't have to make her feel bad either? You could simply tell her that she should wear something light not tell her that shes toooo young and all this mean things, I mean yeah I agree sometimes its pretty obnoxious but just ignore it? most of the time they ask "what can an 11 year old wear make up wise?" not whether YOU think she should wear some or not. I think this only bugs me but its just because I feel bad for the poor girls I mean they're growing up :p.

Seriously I mean if her mom lets her why should you care? I was 13 and my mom said I could wear light makeup if I wanted to bcuz I was very interested in it but I needed advice because my mom wasn't good at explaining what I should do... so why should someone make me feel horrible about tht??

Exactly, I mean there's no need to me rude about it :/ they're learning, I'm not saying its okay for them to cake their faces, but wearing light make up won't hurt them.

I totally understand where you're coming from. I feel soo bad when younger girls get soo much hate from older women. Yes we could be more mature about it. But no one younger than 13 should be on this app/website in the first place. It's the rules. I think 13 is mature enough to take criticism.

I'm happy I'm not the only one who thinks this way and yes it is silly when a 10 year old asks, that is too young but a 13 year old? come on.

I know! If they want to start wearing make people should let them! It's their choice. I started wearing eyeliner when I was 12 and now in 16 and love makeup!

I'm 16 and I started at 13 I think, and I would wear light make up and I didn't see anything wrong with that but everyone is entitled to THEIR OPINION. :)

Right! Even little kids like to play with makeup. My little sister is 4 and she likes to use mine and my moms makeup and play dress up! One time I caught her with lipstick smudged all over her lips lol! Makeup just enhances our features :)

See 9 year olds are just too young! and I agree even 10 to 11 year olds but let them!! lol its their decision, if it bugs you than just ignore it?

I think it's exaggerating to say that everyone bags on that one person, but I see why someone would get upset about it. Though some people are honestly trying to help because wearing makeup early can have a bad affect to your skin later on. But I agree with Llesenia, because with whatever you post, you should always expect some criticism/advice.

I think another thing to remember is that they do come here asking for opinions... I don't think we sit here bashing their age to make them feel horrible, but to try and convey that you don't need make up to look and feel pretty. The message just gets lost in translation. We live in a society where it isn't okay to be our natural selves and are pretty much forced to "amplify" or "enhance " our appearance to be accepted. Look at all the magazines with photoshopped people in them... that is not what the average person looks like and it is not what we want the next generation to strive to be. The point is to have them embrace their good bits and not tell them they need to be ashamed of and/or hide their flaws. You should be worried about your chemistry homework, not about how to do your full coverage foundation and concealer. You have a limited time being a youngin', you shouldn't be worrying about covering every discoloration and bump yet.

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH KIRSTEN! Times have definitely changed since I was 13, and that wasn't even that long ago! I

I always loved make up. My mom started letting me put on pressed powder (those covergirl compacts with the pressed powder and the little puff thing) and lip gloss at like 2 or 3 because I always wanted to put it on when she did hers. After I got old enough not destroy it she'd give me her compacts and lip gloss that were almost out so I'd feel special and feel like I had my own and also got my little things of cheap kiddie make up and glitter that I wore around the house.
When I was like 8-10 instead of getting the tv taken away, I got my make up taken away. She wouldn't let me go in public looking like a clown, but I could wear whatever I wanted at home and simple things (powder and lip gloss) in public. But I honestly didn't start wearing make up seriously on a daily basis until I got to be like 12 right before going to junior high.
I feel like it's important for girls to feel confident no matter what. If make up makes her feel that way, I'm not going to be the one standing in the way of my future daughter's confidence.
I will allow her to wear it and buy her, her own when she starts asking what I'm doing when I get ready in the morning like my mom did. I'll make sure she knows she's beautiful without it, but I won't tell her she can't do something that makes her feel comfortable with herself.
Especially at a young age because that's when girls are more self conscious and are trying to feel like they belong and that's why they want to wear it in the first place.

It goes both ways. I've seen young ladies act disrespectful to the adult crowd. And there has been a few occasions where I had to turn into "mom" to correct the younger users. As far as makeup goes...if their parents allow it who are we to judge.

I'm 14, and I just started wearing make up, and I am personally very careful to make sure it isn't too much. So I don't need people to get on my case about it. I agree.

Ya but you don't have to turn into a "mom" just let them think what they want its all on what people hear and what they wanna believe its ok to say what you think but don't go all well I know best!

Now it's normal for 13 year olds to wear make up, even though I disagree with it, you have to admire the fact that they are asking for help and want to know the right way of applying make up... at least they aren't leaving their houses looking like clowns...

B R. I only go "mom" when a younger person is disrespectful to another. Please don't twist my comment into something that its not.

The only time I've ever expressed my opinion on if make is appropriate at such-and-such age is when it's asked. "How old should you be when you start wearing makeup."
