Never forget that yearly millions of animals are tortured and killed for something vain like cosmetics.
before you buy products from brands like L'Or?al, covergirl, mac, chanel, revlon, and all the others, think twice if there isn't an alternative from a cruelty free brand.

I have an app on my phone for when I look into a new brand, and always get on the internet to double check. I won't use products tested on animals. And remember, more than just makeup is tested on animals, a lot of household products and hygiene products are also.

I recently looked at a list of all brands that test on animals, and I was appalled that so many commonly known brands do that! I have a soft spot for animals, so I definitely do not condone it. My next trip to the drugstore, I will definitely be looking into every brand I get.

I think about it and don't like it but I can't say I hate it cause if it wasn't for animal testing we wouldn't be as far advanced as we are. However I do not see a need in it any more cause we have better alternatives now.

I think about it a lot. I wish it wasn't that way, but I'm also thankful to the animals because they've helped humans develop safer products for us. Also, in my current living situation, finding vegan alternatives to make up brands that I can just pick up from the store isn't really an option.

Are you against animal testing just for cosmetics? Because we do a lot worse to animals for medical testing as well. But would you prefer or feel better if it were humans being tested on? Would that be more 'humane'? And those so against buying cosmetics that test on animals better be vegan, because animals are killed so we can eat them. Some are bred, just for us to kill it and eat it. Just like some are bred just to be tested on.

I wouldnt say I'm for animal testing, but really there's not many other options and I'm not going to give up anything that does test on animals. I'm 0% vegan, never will be vegan. I just like throwing out the idea of medical testing on animals because that isnt as commonly thought of. We wouldnt have as many medical advancements as we do now if we didnt test on animals first. I would rather an animal die to help improve our safety and health than a human. Sad but true.

Megan, ELF is a good vegan friendly drugstore brand. The only thing not vegan by them is their essential brushes :) YAY using vegan products.

Allison, actually, yes, I would rather the products be tested on humans than animals. The products are for our use, not the animals, so if we want it we should be willing to test it on ourselves and not harm animals. Humans are selfish, and it is complete bs to me. Plus, why would I want to put something in/on my body that could be potentially harmful, especially when there are so many natural things that we know are safe and can help. Animal testing needs to stop in ever sense, and that is why I check everything and part of why I don't take medications. And I don't get why you think a person should have to be vegan to be against animal testing, food is needed to survive. I myself do not consume animal, but I understand it and am accepting of it (though I do not condone some of the practice in raising and obtaining said animal products). Makeup is not a necessity.

I'm against animal testing and I understand what you all are saying, but if you're really against animals being hurt, you should definitely turn vegetarian. Otherwise, you may come off as hypocritical. Some people just don't care and it's best to educate them instead of being snotty. If they chose to ignore your steps, then leave them alone.

I wouldnt consider meat a nessesity to survive. My sister is vegan and she survives. So... its hypercritical to me to say it should stop. Cancer research should stop? A cure for AIDS should stop? We should stop making any type of medical advancements? Less ivasive surgeries for a quicker recovery time? If it wasnt for animal testing, we would be killing and cutting open humans to learn about it. Breeding humans for the specific purpose of killing them. We would have no idea about animal anatomy so no vets. I'm in no way for it, but I would much rather that we do it. It helps us in so many ways. I'm thankful for those animals for helping us improve and so people stop dying from diseases or cancer or we can improve our medical practices. Call me selfish but I would love a cure for those things. I've lost too much family to cancer to just stop any further research because people are so against us testing on little rats and other animals. To me, thats selfish.

Are you against dog sleds, horse racing, horse drawn buggies, pig races? do you use glue, candles, and shampoo? because all those things are damaging to animals or tested on animals, or even made out of animals too. Animal testing is what has gotten us so far. I hear people asking for reviews on products all the time, reffering other humans as guinnea pigs before they try out something new because it might be dammaging. just like Brittnay sounded like a hypocrit saying "it should be tested on us if its for our use" then saying "why would I want to put something in/on my body that could be potentially harmfull".

Woa woa woa! I personally have to take medicine to survive that doesn't make me selfish. Are you saying I'm better off dead for taking my med and being "selfish"?

I agree with Brittany that the products that are for humans should be tested on humans. animals are different biologically, so what may affect them may not affect us.

As a two time cancer survior I know that amimal testing saved my life so I'm all for it in some instances and not for it in others. What gets under my skin is individuals who bash those who don't agree with the don't test on animals platform and those who slam those who are for it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion (s) but I certainly don't like the backlash that occurs from both sides as its uncalled for.

Michelle I hate to tell you your ysl and loreal mascara is tested on animals. how is that ysl mascara? I hear it was good.

There is one thing you need to understand about animal testing in cosmetics; the ingredients are not just applied to the surface of animals. they are injected into their systems to see results of hazard. I can't say I am 100% against animal testing because this is one of the few ways to test the safety of products but I think many leading brands are insanely cruel about animal testing. loreal and lancome, by far, are one of the few brands that are extremely cruel but precise upon testing. this is why they are so profitable and their cosmetics are at such a great quality. lorea, even though is a drugstore brand, is considerably great quality for such a low cost. before we say that animal testing is bad (because animal testing, in all honesty, has saved us in many ways), I think we should look at the brands and how they test.

WOW! You totally did not pay attention to a word I said. So much that I debated even replying back to you. So I am going to keep it short with this one then be done with you because I can tell you are already not a person worth discussing this with because you don't read and consider what others say, think that only your view is right. I didn't say meat is a necessity, food is a necessity, however, the human body is made to eat meat from our death to our digestive system to what our body needs (most things can be consumed through other sources but not all. Which means no matter how healthy I try to be, as long as I choose to not consume animal I am missing stuff). For the vets and animal anatomy, that can be done once the animal is dead, just like we have done to learn human. We don't kill humans to learn their anatomy. And any medical things we have learned from testing on animals we could learn (and better) from testing on animals. Like I said, we want the products for us so they should be tested on us, not something that it isn't for. Plus, do you have any idea how many times stuff has been approved through animal testing but never makes it to being sold due to the fact that it is still not suitable for humans? Even the closest match for humans is still far off. There is no reason to test on animals.

Jul 14, 2013

Brittany A.

Lara, what I said is not being a hypocrite at all, I don't use that stuff, I only use natural stuff on the rare occasion that I do need to take something, otherwise I deal with it until it's gone. And I don't want to put chemicals in my body. And there are cruelty free vegam friendly shamppos, candles (which I never use anyways), and glue. Do your research sweetie. And no, I am not for any of that shit, there is no need for that and we have better ways to get around (bikes for me) and other sources of amusement (towards the racing).

I buy elf products...I watched a video on the Internet about animal testing, and started crying... I only buy products that don't test on animals.

@lynzie if you read my first comment on this, I said I just recently looked into what brands test on animals and will make sure my next trip to the store will not include anything that tests on animals. You don't have to give me attitude boo lol

@michelle I know, I wasn't giving you attitude..I was just letting you know.. I was honestly curious how that mascara is. I'm a mascara person but don't want to fish out $30 bucks if its crap and drys out to fast.

It's pretty good, I don't even need to curl my lashes before using it. My friend got 2 for free after having a purchase of $100 or more at sephora and gave me one. I personally never use makeup unless I'm going to a party or its my birthday, but I'm going to use it because I don't want it to go to waste lol.
