So I have a bridal trial today, and I'm fairly new with freelancing, how much would I charge?
I know I would be cheaper cause I'm new, but I wouldn't want to undercharge...

Ladies…I say this with love, because make up is for everyone but if you haven't done your research and due diligence, don't start charging and booking clients first. Why? Because it is unprofessional, you shoot yourself (and your future business) in the foot and you undermine the industry and its you have aspirations to join. There is no reason at all to even *potentially* undercut. If you have no experience working professionally as a make up artist and aren't sure of the ins and outs of the industry, market rates for the different jobs, contracts, etc.etc, no worries. The answer is to assist first/join an established bridal team first to learn the ins and outs of the business.
Lily - trials are usually a flat rate for a set amount of time, regardless of how simple or nuanced a look the the artist and the bride settle on.
Paige - closest answer here. Determining one's rates involves research into what the market rate is in your area from the lowest to highest (reasonably among artists whose brand and services you'd want your own brand and services associated with) and then you price yourself within the upper 1/3rd (within reason).
Dineke - Alice is in Scotland, so I imagine that the possibility of wholly different rates there is quite high, also depending on where in Scotland she is.
Mollie - How did you arrive at that figure? A quick google search for "bridal make up massachusetts" has yielded results showing trial rates ranging from about $75-$150. Trial rates *usually* run about 50-75% of the bride's day of rate and lasts about 1.5-2 hours.
There are many great bridal MUA groups on FB. Check em out! They're a great resource for better understanding the industry and connecting with experienced pros.
