Hi beauties,
so since I've joined youve all inspired me with your lovely pics and I finally decided to try some eyeshadow.
I'm using urban decay (smoked palette) and I'm find that the colours just won't show up well on my eyelids. the colours don't come on well and definitely don't look as vibrant/intense
is there something I'm missing?

Do you use an eye primer? Try Urban Decay's Eye Primer Potion.

You can also buy an eye shadow base in white and then put the colours over it. It will make them appear more vibrant.

Ooo I don't have that problem maybe try a base or lid primer.

Yeah primer is kind of essential before eye shadow especially if you have oily skin.

Hi Rosie,Are you using a primer or base before eye shadow? I also find when damping your brush it helps bring the color out.I also want you to keep in mind some of the pictures are enhanced to bring out the colors of the eye shadows or lip colors so don't be discouraged that your colors aren't showing up so vibrant.

All good advice, definitely use a primer! I'm an avid urban decay eyeshadow user.. a few problems: The shadows with glitter have a lot of drip (meaning cover under your eyes while applying unless you want glitter everywhere)... annnd it really does matter what brush you're using for some reason. Try all of the ones you have to see the best combo.. I wish I had a recommendation, but the ones I have now don't work very well either :p

Ok Rosie a primer is your best bet to use when you have oily eyelids versus using a base which any color can be used as a base but will not help prevent creasing for oily eyelids. :-)

Aside from primer, a good quality, pigmented shadow goes a long way!

I've noticed that although the colours in that palette all look totally different in the palette, when you apply them they nearly all look similar.not vibrant at all.
