When I got mine done, they gave me a pack of sea salt to do a sea salt soak to reduce infection. Obviously it would be hard to do a soak on your navel ring but I used the solution to clean my piercing daily with a q-tip.

Piece of advice , don't wear anything that hangs from the piercing until it heals otherwise it will get irritated and cod get infected. I got mine done 10 years ago and love it. Its stayed open thru 2 pregnancies too. Tip for cleaning , wash with mild soap and make sure to keep it dry.

My friend got hers done she said what worked best for her to keep it from getting infected was wash it twice a day with dial antibacterial soap.

Cute Aundrea :) love the ring :D and for those who are scared and think it hurts, well why lie it does hurt A LITTLE. take in mind that many are better with physical pain then others :)! but its really worth it (: thanks for the tips and compliments!

Use sea salt and warm water for a soak, you could soak a cotton ball, lay down and leave it sit on your piercing for a few minutes, then do a warm water rinse to soak off the salt. try not to move the piercing back and forth through the hole, this will only rip it and delay healing, and Tiffany is right, don't habg anything until it is fully healed... also with the sea salt and warm water, don't use TOO much sea salt. this will dry out your piercing.

Where did you go to get it pierced because when I got mine done years ago my piercer gave me this four page brochure on how to properly care for it and what to avoid during the first couple of months while it healed. :(
