I know that there's this stuff called accutane that dramatically reduces cystic/regular acne, but the only inconvenience is you must take birth control with it too. It also takes a few weeks to make a big difference and it gets worse before it gets better. Sorry I don't have any immediate solutions :/

Cystic acne really needs to be checked by a dermatologist its really a cyst ,an infection of the oil duct an goes a lot deeper than regular acne you should not pop them they need to be lanced or it will cause scaring an spread the infection, you also might wanna get checked for food alergies

Acne products with sulfur work great but they can't be found over the counter, to my knowledge. I get one on my chin before my cycle it would be huge I'd feel it coming put the treatment and within three days its gone!

Ingrown hairs can sometimes cause cystic acne. It's called Folliculitus. Often cystic acne is caused by a bacteria occurring naturally within the body. Retinol, antibiotics or Nicotinamide in conjunction with a tea tree oil or salicylic acid are common routes derms take when treating these conditions. I would consult a reputable derm, but in the meantime, I'd avoid use of products containing mineral oil or parabens as they can clog pores. I'd also get a tea tree oil face wash and follow up with a toner like Mario Beduscu's Seaweed astringent. For spot treatments, Bare Minerals Blemish Therapy. Aveeno's radiant moisturizer is gentle and paraben free. Drink loads of water and increase your Vitamin C and Zinc intake. Both promote a strong immune system and healthy skin from within. Pull your hair up in a loose bun when sleeping or home to reduce abrasive acne, irritation and any transfer of oils. I also recommend a good exfoliation once a week just after a shower, when your pores are open. Be sure to moisturize after. Don't scrub your face harshly...use only pure cotton puffs and a cotton washcloth. I'd also make sure to change my pillowcase every other day and be certain to use an allergy protector on my pillow beneath a 100% cotton case. Percale doesn't breathe like pure cotton and can cause some to perspire while sleeping. In any event...I would definitely see a derm who can not only clear your skin, but prevent breakouts from forming..which aids in avoiding scarring. Good luck!

I'm so sorry hun. I'd make an appointment with a good, local derm. You may be able to locate one on Yelp or Foursquare. Until you can get in to see one, please take my advice to heart... and keep your head up.

Yes that is cystic an to get it under control you do need a perscription but you still need a good skincare routine for now and in the future so all the things Roxberry suggested will help you along with a perscripton antibiotic

Traci knows her business, as she is an experienced skin care pro. Always helpful, Traci. I agree with you that a derm is the best route.

Dermalogica sells an acne spot treatment with sulfur, but if your acne is very bad and you are in pain, please do see a dermatologist. They will probably want to do a chemical peel and perhaps have you take medication. They don't usually prescribe Accutane unless it's absolutely necessary. There are other products that are better and safer. Best of luck to you! Keep us posted!

Mother of all that is holy.. DO NOT TAKE ACCUTANE. I did 2 rounds. it ruined my body... FINALLY at 30 years old my derm suggested Spirinolactone. Changed my life. What is the harm in asking.
