I heard the Garnier shampoo is terrible and has like 13 health-concerning ingredients. Sulfates and perfum are bad chemicals too

SLS is not bad, this compound is actully the cleanser part of the shampoo, but gel shampoos have it more in quantity and hence you get that sqeeky clean feeling, but cream shampoos have less of it, leaving you hair feeling moisturized but less clean. So now depending on you hair type, people with dry hair need to go for creame shampoos like dove and people like me with oily scalp need to use gel shampoos like herbal essences.

This is only for untreated hair, if you have used chemicals on your hair then yes too much SLS is bad.

Sulfates are awful. Only use sulfate free. Sulfates make your hair too clean. In sulfate free shampoo they have ingredients that clean your hair, but they don't strip it.

And Garnier is one of the worst things you can use. Nexxus is good, it actually used to be a salon brand. I don't know if they've changed the quality of it since then but I used to use both of those brands (not at the same time) and Garnier was awful and damn near ruined my hair and Nexxus worked very well but not nearly as good as the stuff I use now.
