My natural hair color is brown/black. I currently dyed it using the Garnier Ultra Color (specifically for dark hair) Light Intense Red.
I'm planning on dying it Golden Brown of the same hair dye brand.
My question is, I currently have about an inch of virgin hair growth. Since I'm trying to dye my hair a lighter color, do I dye my roots first or the already dyed hair??
I've read conflicting statements, which is why I needed more advice.

Always your roots last because they take color quicker.

Hi I'm a cosmetologist. color can not lift color. you will need to have it lightened to go to the brown color.
go see a pro dear, box color is really terrible to use in the long run.
