Avery, maybe it's just the psych major coming out in me, but I feel like even if your tattoos don't have a specific meaning like "oh I got this for my mom bc she had cancer etc etc" they still mean a lot to you. Like they mean that you love art and being creative and that's a meaningful expression of that love for you

keep them small, so they won't sag when you're older. And smaller tattoos are daintier and just cute! I love seeing keyhole, bird, and white ink tattoos, and I think simple black tattoos give off a classy feeling. keep it unique. I don't have one but my mother has a daisy on her shoulder, she got it young and now wants it removed, so make sure it's something you know you can be confident with for life.

I have 3 beautiful tattoos however If I could go back I would never have got them and I will tell you why. The number on reason why is because i was using drugs during the time of my life when i got them so it is an unpleasant reminder of my past. The second reason I am going to have to hide them from all my future employers which means i will have to wear long sleeved shirts in the summer time and concealer on my face tattoo. And the finally reason my tattoo artist was a total doodoo head. So in conclusion I do like tattoos I just don't like my tattoos.

Jordann W. - You're tatts are awesome! I love them, I have a few and some piercings and I'd be covered if I could afford it. I don't agree they have to have meaning and be all deep! Just so long as they show some originality, not chosen off a flash sheet or because some celeb is sporting a particular design. Also a bit of thought to placement and making sure your artist is the best for what you want. I get so pissed at young guys and girls who come in my local piercing and tattoo parlour wanting something there and then but then fucking off to a less reputable piercer or artist just because they can't accommodate them at that moment. This one girl got her septum done for some then about ten mins later came in hysterical asking the piercer to ring her father and tell him she'd had it done cos she was scared about how he'd react

Yes Alice that's true. Trying to explain that to the people who ask me what the meaning is however isn't so easy. They don't understand that my love of art and self expression means something to me. To them they just think its a bunch of edible colourful things.

At least it's 100% original. I had the artist draw it up and he let me take his drawing home. So he doesn't even have a copy of it.

Let me see if I can get a video of me getting it done. Colours stronger and heals extremely easy no scabbing which I found unbelievable but true haha

For some it's a way of expressing their individuality. Each tattoo came at a certain time in ones life and therefor will never be forgotten :) I have nearly completed a whole sleeve, my upper thigh, a large one from my shoulder to elbow on opposite arm, shoulder and all of my left ribs done. I don't regret any of them only wish I had of thought about where ive placed them as I want more and am running out of room.
