Clarisonic Mia - To continue or stop? Help

Hi Guys,

I bought the Clarisonic Mia 2 months ago and I was using it twice a day as guided. I loved how clean my skin felt and it was getting smoother as well after a few uses. However into the second week my skin started to break out into a rash. So I stopped using it for a while, statred up again 2 weeks after and the same thing happened! Does anyone else have the same issue? Does it get better or should I just give this a miss now?

Hey I can't help much since I haven't tried the clarisonic. But, here is a video on someone who tried it and received some major bumps on his face. Hope this helped!

And in my advice if it happened to you on two occasions, I would stop. (:

When I first got my Clarisonic I did notice that I was breaking out a lot but thats only because it was bringing all the dirt and impurties in my skin out. That lasted for about a good two weeks and now my skin has completely cleared up. I've had my Clarisonic MIA for about 5 months now.

If your break out/rash is really bad then I would stop. My breakout was mild so it was still tolerable. You might want to try a different brush head. I have the one for sensitive skin.

Thanks guys! that video is brilliant Rina! exactly what my skin looked like! rashy bumps! I did think maybe I was putting too much pressure on as my skin felt raw and sore two weeks in!

I think I may give the sensitive skin brush head a go and reduce to using it once a day rather than twice to see how it goes :)

Thanks for the replies girls! :) I've followed u both :)

Twice a day??!! I have NEVER heard anyone say that exfoliation that often is good for you. Your skin cells generally replace themselves every 3-4 days, and too much scrubbing often takes off the real, living layers of skin underneath and leaves you vulnerable to UV damage (and sunspots, wrinkles and even skin cancer down the road). That's why prescriptions that "thin" your skin always say that you need to wear sunscreen on the label.

Many products think that "thinning" the skin prevents acne because if there's less skin, then there are fewer chances of it becoming clogged or infected. This technically works, but you must be extremely protective of the exposed surface.

A lot of teenagers have the same problem when they try to clear up their skin. It feels so good to SCRUB, you really feel like you're cleaning everything out. But exfoliation only helps when used in moderation.

I would suggest toning it down to every other day, and your skin will probably heal.

Hi Catey thats a good point, tbh I didnt really think of it as exfoliating, I was wrapped up in it being a cleansing product! I guess ur right, I will use it every other day to see how it goes. Thx

your own skin said I CANNOT STAND IT ANYMORE.I would really suggest to use it only 1-2 times per week.Your skin will be ok and try to use a mild calming crean,La Roche Possey and Avene has thermal water in all their products,it will soothe you.I agree with lovely CATEY P.
Many Kisses !!

Try the brush head in Delicate. It is the softest one they make. I also only use mine at night. You could even try every other night.

clairisonic is not a exfoliator it is a cleansing tool....it is shaking all the dirt and debris to the surface which is why your seeing break outs its a purging stage if its more of a rash then try usig the sensitive brush because you are applying to much pressure...u can use the clairisnic everyday either once or twice a day depending on how sensitive your skin is
