I have darkish brown hair and would like to lighten the color to a slightly lighter shade of brown. I'm not allowed to use hair dye and have looked into other ways like using lemon, sun in, etc. Have any of you guys tried any of those things/ have any other suggestions on how to do this? Thanks!

Sun in tends to bring out red tones, so it would go more chestnutty and a bit lighter! Lemon juice in the sun works just make sure you use a good treatment after because of the lemons acidity. Beer actually works as well haha, you may need to stay in the sun longer than using lemon but its less damaging and does bring up a nice colour. Use a treatment after this too so you don't smell like beer for ages haha :)

Try SOAKING your hair with lemon for about 2-4 hours, every week or so. I had jet black hair now it's golden brown (almost red)

Lemon juice and also you can crush vitamin c tablets and make a paste with them and apply it like a hair mask. I know it works with dyed hair, but I don't know about virgin hair. might be worth a shot.

Mehendi or henna is an organic mix and here in India we use it from our childhood it gives hair a redish brown tinge over a period of time.
