Hello, I'm a licensed cosmetologist. Honestly, just start by applying it to the roots first and then apply it to the rest of the hair. Then, cover it with plastic (like maybe a walmart bag) and use a blow dryer on it with the bag on, on low heat for like 10 minutes. A lot of times in a salon to process chemicals faster you put the person under a hooded dryer(I'm assuming you don't own one of these so a blow dryer will do fine). The heat just helps it process faster.

It also helps it absorb better.

Danielle thank you so much! How long should I keep the tint on her hair for? So I do the roots and the rest of the hair at the same time right?
Also have any tips for making your hair color last other than shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair. my mom constantly has to dye her hair to keep the grays away lol

Leave it on for what the instructions say, and if it still isn't taking heat it again and leave it on no more than an hour total. I usually leave mine on for an hour so it would be fine.
And wash your hair with cool water. Like luke warm.
