There are some temporary box dyes that wash out in a few washes. They come in colors like red, blue, purple etc.

I just got a job as a hair dresser, and I haven't start yet... but posts like this always make me a bit afraid of what I am going to have to fix. I mean really, crayons? smh.
If you're going to do it yourself, go to sally's and buy the stuff. The stuff they sell is considered professional and looks better when it washes out, costs about the same, and is easier to get out at a salon if you mess it up.

You can also use chalk and then put some hairspray ontop.

Be careful using anything labeled temporary. Depending on your hair type and condition it may not be temporary at all.
Example, had a young girl come into the salon I worked at, she had colored her hair with Kool aid without her mothers permission thinking it would be gone in a week. It'd been 3 months after she'd originally colored it when she came in.

No, not if you just want it temporary. I colored parts of my hair with marker one time when I was 12 thinking it'd come out in the shower. It never came out, I had to use hair color and color darker over it and it still peeked through.
