I have dark, almost black hair. I bleached a strip of hair and dyed it purple using a purple from hot topic, and it came out sorta blue and faded really really quickly within days, when it said "permanent". Does anyone know any better dye, maybe the hot topic one was just too cheap? I paid like $12 for it... Any suggestions/experience with this?

I use ion.. bright colors won't last long unless, you take care of it. if you just have a streak put foil around it, and use a flat iron on it. but not for too long or sleep with the color in and wash it when you wake up. I learned from a professional hairstylist.. then get a lock in product from ion at a sallys... or something like that. then wash your hair maybe once, and or twice a week.. I have very dark hair too and there's a lot to taking care of it... and try not to swim too much..

Exactly what Michelle said or you can just get a few colored extensions and have them micro beaded in? I only charge 10-15 a piece if I'm doing less than 20 so its pretty cheap and much healthier if you want to look into asking around.

Otherwise I'd say manic panic but blue is a hard color to keep up with as is red. and if the hair underneath is yellow it will turn green (if that happens put the blue over it again and it will come out better)
