Being an alternative girl, I sometimes find it hard to fit in with the beauty crowd. I'm not talking Grav3yardgirl's faux gothic look, but beauties with legitimate darker looks. Here on beautylish, I find that bold eyebrows are hated and dark lipstick in spring is frowned upon. Why is this? I love you girls on here, but I feels as if there is an underlying distaste for the more gothic-punk girls on here and their aesthetic looks.

I agree with you. I haven't actually noticed that there isn't as many if those videos in the beauty world. Althought I'm not an alternative girl. I do find the looks really different and unique and isn't that what makeup is all about?

As a Artist I personally love all makeup, I've seen a couple of the looks your talking about but I found the artist by searching the makeup pictures on this site because I've notice the same looks on the popular picture forums and I wanted to see other artist so I kept searching :-)

I see other girls telling some that their eyebrows are too bold, or that their lips are too dark for the season. Some are not meant to be poster children for Forever 21, and that should be accepted.

Personally , I wear dark colors no matter what time of year it is! I have a blue undertone & tan skin , so darker colors suit me best , while light pastel colors make me look weird lol 😧 but I'm a lover of creativity & uniqueness , I love seeing how people intrepret the art of make-up. just do what you like , & call it your own style , nothing's better than being yourself & looking good while you're at it 😉

I have a very... varied style. Lol. As far as my makeup and hair goes I typically go for a more alternative style, but I try to reach all audiences on my blog. As for my clothing style I've always been a fan of the alternative style. I have kind of a chic/alternative style, if that makes any sense?
I think you'd REALLY love 'I Call It Ambrosia' on Youtube. :)

I personally wear light colors and I'm afraid of too bold make up looks because I go bold with my outfits. However, if someone wants to wear dark makeup all year that should be there choice. All you need is confidence and you can rock anything!

I agree with what yary said its your personal style when it comes to makeup if you look at my pics you can see I am all about the art of makeup some are dark some are I guess you would say the makeup standard lol makeup doesn't see a season or exact rule which the rule thing is funny because no matter how many times people say their isn't rules to makeup but yet we always have a rule to anything to do with it always apply right, color of the season or to dark or to light ect ect lol

I do love Rachel, but not quite alternative. True gothic gurus are a rare find.

I'm glad you know who she is. Not many people do unfortunately. I love that she is so down to Earth and that she doesn't quite follow the 'makeup norm' which is why I'd recommended her. But you're right, they are hard to come by.

I have a 'Whatever the fudge I feel like' kind of style. I will wear darker colors in the spring and summer. I just got MAC Violetta lipstick and Funtabulous lipgloss and that pairing is about to be a once a week thing for me - and it's a darker shade of true purple. That nice close to purple with a little bit of pink undertones purple and I adore it. But really think about the community this is, the over all beauty society and what's preferred, and you will find that yes, it is more catered to and favored towards Forever 21 poster girls and we all can't be that, or well, we choose not to be. But really, there's nothing wrong with that. Every body just does their own thing.

I think it's just most people's personal opinions. It really doesn't matter. Be confident(: It doesn't matter what anyone else does!

I wear what makes me happy...and sometimes that's black bondage capris and bold red lips mid summer.

Goth doesn't really express feeling or excitement in life! Whatever your style is you stick with follow your thoughts not someone else's. If everyone were identical it would be a pretty boring life so to be different and to have your own style is a gift. You have a lot of confidence when it comes to style... Don't change who your truly are:)

Some girls are just superficial. I think we are all here because we are interested in the same thing, but maybe different styles. Everyone has their own opinions in what they like, and I think everyone looks most beautiful in their own skin. :-)

I don't fit in with the beauty crowd either but that's because I have my own style, I don't follow crowds. Just embrace you're own style, I tryed gbe.

I love checking out all looks. And I'm a firm believer in not following rules when it comes to makeup. Don't let those who frown upon your beauty discourage you. xxxx

Well, honestyly I like all makeup. I do notice when women have vert bold looks and brows, its often frowned on.I'm not that makeup who follow trends. I will wear green lipstick on Valentines Day. lol. I loveeee bold colors and can't get enough of them. people must understand that it is not necessary to follow trends. part of my love for makeup is that I can be my own creative self. Angel, wear your looks like its nobody business.

Well sorry if you post things on here and people post their opinions, that is what the site is for. People don't target alternative girls and I've never seen them being "unloved by beauty community"

As a stylist I tell my clients that the most beautiful woman is one who knows exactly who she is and isnt afraid to be that way. So if you know what you like and that makes you happy then you are doing better than about 70% of most women in the world. Fashion and trends are constantly going to change so don't worry because you know who you are and that will never go out of style.

I completely agree with you Angel I've just kinda learned to deal with it :/ it sucks and it's unfair but I guess it's just a personal opinion and I wouldn't change my style or how I do my make up for anyone.
