I found this great slide show of examples on how to wear leggings and how not to wear leggings!
I see so many posts on here about the big debate: Are leggings pants or not? So I thought I would post this quick slide show (minimal reading, lots of picture examples) on styling tips! HERE'S THE LINK: http://www.refinery29.com/how-to-wear-leggings
A few main points: DO's
-mix textures, proportions, lengths, and colors
-longer and looser tops, tunics, and jackets look great
-put more effort into styling than you would a plain pair of pants or jeans
-pair with a great, interesting shoe or boot
-look for leggings with interesting details (including but not limited to, seams, texture, or print)
-go for strong, thick, and durable fabrics
A few main points: DON'T's
-avoid sheer tight-like leggings
-yoga pants or athletic pants are not appropriate for non-athletic activities!
-no "above-the-hip" tops, especially no midriff tops
-leggings are never a substitute for trousers or jeans
-avoid the camel-toe... SIZE UP!
-don't show your frontal region, cover it up
REMEMBER: comfort and style can be synonymous without appearing lazy

Personally, I don't agree with some of the tips but that may be because I have a different idea. Still I don't really think that we should be limited to this. We all have different preferences and styles. If someone wants to wear it than let them, its not you who's wearing it.

I definitely agree with this!!

Agree! If you wanna wear leggings that are sheer and tight like then might as well not wear any pants. Just go in your underwear. Youre showing it all off to the world, why not just go a small step more? I can't stand when I see that. Unless its covered with an oversized sweater or shirt then cover it up ladies. It gives a bad message, and youre leaving almost nothing to the imagination. I know I'll get hated on for my comment but seriously, get some class and cover up. End rant.

I wear leggings as pants but I deliberately get the wrong size so that the crotch area is loose but it's still fitted around the legs haha.

I'm with Allison W.! There is no reason to have your hooha or your thong plainly visible when you have clothes on. Ain't nobody wants to see that! Nobody is going to buy the cow if they can get the milk for free.

I agree with Monique, I don't think anyone should be telling others how to dress. There shouldn't be silly rules that take away individuality. BUT I also agree that the butt and crotch should be covered. Both out of respect for others and to yourself. As long as the person wearing them isn't exposed I don't really care how they wear them.

A major issue with leggings is that some young girls tend to think that thin cotton leggings are pants and wear them with a T-shirt or similar, thus showing off their behind in a very unflattering way.
They should be used like tights, NOT pants.

Yes, at least wear something looser and a bit longer up top...unless you are as skinny as a pencil.
