Okay, so my junior year I dyed my hair for the first time and it was black. Then I dyed it red and black, then black again ,and then I was forced to bleach it for a musical I was in. I dyed it black after that and now my hair is fading back to the light brownish color it was when I bleached it (from the middle to the ends). People say it looks a bit ombre, but it looks very tacky up close. I was wondering if it would be bad to dye it black again and cut the ends. Or should I just leave it as is and continue to get trims? I don't want my hair to be damaged anymore. It's been through so much :( Also, my hair is no longer smooth and constantly gets tangled. Any product recommendations? Oh, and I am a freshman in college so my hair problem has been in existence for a while now.

I would just cut it and start a fresh. I have bleach my hair before. It's not very good for it at all.

Leave in a good amount of conditioner from root to tip. Every month do a hot oil treatment (leave in 5 to ten min longer) do this for six months hair will bring back shine bounce, and softness. (every night seal hair with oil any olive, coconut , argon, green tea etc.). Has for color situation I say use a rinse (semi-permanent) until hair grows out but keep the color part of your hair hydrated and monstered. Hopes this help

The reason your hair is so damaged is because Evey time you color or lighten your hair the cuticle layer of each hair is raised. bleaching hair does to most damage. the ends of your hair won't hold any color because the ends are damaged from being taken from one extreme to the other. your cuticle layer is permanently raised do to all this damage so whenever you color your hair the color molecules go in nicely but they fall out faster where the cuticle is raised because cuticle doesn't close enough to keep them in. you're only option really is to do protein treatments and keep up on yourrl trims. don't use box dyes right now with your hair in a very compromised state you need gentle products now is a perfect time to allow yourself to blow the money on salon products and salon services.
