Barbies are terrible. I would never let my child play with a toy that exploits women in such a sexist and body conscious way. Example A: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mobileweb/galia-slayen/the-scary-reality-of-a-re_b_845239.html.

Yes but it's adults who look at barbies and think "oh god that's sexualising my child I must burn it". Little girls play to have fun! I never thought I needed to be blonde and really skinny just because my dolls were, it's just fun and games to children. Lots of children play "mothers" with baby dolls when they're little but that doesn't mean they grow up to think the only thing they can be in life is a stay at home mother and housewife!

Besides, barbie isn't a real person, so to try abd make a "real life model" is ridiculous. No one thinks that barbie is real so why make a figure to show her as she would be?

The things little kids grow up around directly effect the people they are and turn out to be and how they feel about themselves. It's called nurturing. You expose you're children to dolls with large breasts, minuscule wait lines, blonde hair and blue eyes and what do you think they're going to grow up idealizing? The chubby girl that gets teased at school for her weight that isn't her fault because her parents are the ones nurturing her? And who do you think that little girl wants to be like? Saying what you let your children interact with is harmless and they're to young or naive to take anything away from it is like cursing constantly and fighting and abusively interacting with your spouse in front of your child and thinking your children won't grow up to communicate in the same manner.
