I have an oak desk with a slim draw above in the middle then on the right side of the desk there are 4 draws. I use plastic bins inside the draws to organize my make up. I then have on top of my desk a vase for my pencils, a glass jar filled with marbles for my brushes and 2 little pots for odds and ends. hanging ony wall next to my desk is a spice cabinet which I keep my lipstick and nail polish in. Hope this helped some (:

Where did you get the plastic drawers from? I've been looking everywhere but could only find really huge ones.

Repurpose some vases with some marbles or even coffee beans in it to hold your makeup brushes. you could even get a sheet of metal from your local hardware store spray adhesive on it, cover with some fabric or scrapbook paper and you have yourself a magnetic makeup holder, (you have to glue magnets to all your makeup. you could even re-pot all your eyeshadows into some empty pallates to keep them together and store in an envelope sorter.
