Paul mitchell just came out with a great curl line. its a shampoo and leave in conditioner. its not good to condition curly hair bc it weighs it down. so use the shampoo then lightly put the leave in. all my clients who tried it instantly fell in love. your local paul mitchell salon should have samples for her to try.

I have a similar hair type maybe she could use biolage shampoo? Besides that tell her to use argon oil inside the shower and after it really helps to tame frizzy hair!

Moving in a different direction, shampooing curly hair is not good for it. Sulfate is curly hairs enemy. If your MIL has the patience she can follow the "curly girl method". I have heard nothing but great outcomes from it.

Olivia is right. I have insanely thick, curly hair and conditioner is my best friend. Without it my hair gets really frizzy.

Redken just came out with a curly hair line called curvaceous and the shampoo is sulfate free and the conditioner is moisturizing and won't weigh hair down. you want to condition curly hair because it tends to be more dry. redken also came out with about 5 different styling products to accompany the shampoo and conditioner and they all are targeted for the different kind of curls and hair textures. all my clients I have used this line has noticed a huge improvement on their curly hair (:
