I love banana boat gradual tan lotion. (I'm not sure if that is the exact name, but it's easy to find.) I use the shade light-medium. It smells like vanilla and it doesn't streak if you rub it in well. And since the lotion is colored, you can see where it's being applied but still get that gradual color buildup later. It's my favorite!

All those tanning lotions end up leaving weird orange patches on my skin, and I'm just as pale as you. Lol.
You're better off getting a natural sun tan using a tanning oil (I use Banana Boat tanning oil). Tan for about 15-30 minutes on each side a day until you get to the tone you want. You're safest using at least SPF 15 too.

My body stays decently tan but when its not I will use jergens.. as for my face I have sensitive skin so a lotion product isn't a good idea. The best thing I've tried is dr. Dennis gross alpha beta glow pads for the face. Never streaky or orange and is amazing for your skin!
