Looks ok in the pic! Try using a base coat, let it dry, then put on polish, and then a top coat. Makes it look much smoother, and last longer. :)

I'm not good at painting my nails either. I use a base coat (OPI Nail Envy), then two coats of polish. Typically I make a huge mess and the polish around my cuticle is jagged and ugly looking, so I've started taking a thin, flat, rounded brush (you could use an old makeup brush or a small paint brush), dipping it in acetone polish remover, and cleaning up the edges and cuticle of my nails. Top it off with a top coat (Seche Vite) and the result is perfect nails! :)

I find opi and essie works best in my opinion.glides on perfect and isnt chunky like cheaper nail polishes. I use a top coat and then whipe up mistakes with a q tip and dip it in nail polish remover.

I think your nails look great! But honestly, practice makes perfect. It also helps to buy good quality nail polish. OPI, Chinaglaze, Rimmel... They may be a little on the expensive side, but it's worth it. They last longer both in the bottle and on your nails, chip less easily, and are easy to apply. I always try a nail polish just quickly on my thumb before I buy it, just to make sure it goes on smoothly. There is nothing more frustrating than struggling with a nail polish that doesn't go on smoothly and evenly!
