Help With Nails!!

Ok so I just removed my solar nails that I had on (I've been getting my nails done at the nail salon for a year straight now)

And I was wanting to start doing my nails at home on my own. Only problem is my natural nails don't grow no matter what I put on them or what I do. Is there a type of artificial nail I can buy at the store that I can use?

I know an old coworker used to buy plain nails and polish them like they were her real nails. Any ideas ladies?? Thanks!! :-)
