Okay...I feel like a noob right now but WHAT IS PRIMER??
Can I use a foundation on my eyes instead of an eyeshadow primer? Do they work the same?

No they don't primer protects your skin and acts as a barrier between your skin and whatever products you put on your face the benefits of eye shadow primer is that they prevent eyeshadow from creasing throughout the day and also bring out the pigment in the shadow so its brighter and more colorful using a primer will keep your eyeshadow in place all day and looking just as amazing when you take it off at the end of the day as you did when you put it on in the morning - my fave is smash box lid primer I love it!
