Purple is known to bring out brown eyes but I've also found that blue does too :) I have hazel eyes and blue makes them look golden!

My eyes are extremely dark brown & I use copper/bronze shadows on my lid, with a dark brown shadow on the "outer v" of my eye. I know you said that you don't like purple, but have you considered a dark purple mascara? I have WOW Factor mascara by Laura Geller, the one I have is purple-tinted, and it definitely makes my eyes look more vibrant.
