They usually give you a little calendar for the first week or 2. Like you start out wearing them 2 hours a day, then 4 then 6 and so forth. That way it's easier to get used to them.

I actually would do my eyeshadow before I put my contacts in and then I did my eyeliner after I put them in.Of course, that's after I got used to them. it took me like a about two weeks to get used to them, and before that it took two weeks to find the right contacts for me. and if your eyes are naturally dry, it may take longer.

If I didn't, I would get irritating particles underneath my contacts and then I'd have to take them out anyway.

Woah I did not get the same treatment as crystal.. You can get rewetting drops at Walmart if they start to dry out your eyes, it's kinda like eye drops but for contacts. It didn't take me anytime to get use to them really, popped them in and was good. I will say try not to sleep in them if you don't have the ones for that cause it can damage your eyes and it kinda hurts when you wake up with them in.

I have plain ones, and have been dealing with contacts for 9 years. I have astigmatism, too. I would recommend putting on contacts before your makeup because you won't trap particles of your makeup underneath your contact causing irritation and possible damage. Your eye doctor should explain the ropes for you, and tell you how to put them in, take care of them, etc. But if he/she doesn't this'll help fill in the gaps! (Or go to a different eye doc!) http://www.healthkicker.com/748112554/okay-its-time-to-clear-up-some-myths-about-contacts/

You can do makeup after but your best putting them in before because every time my eyes water a bit and that would wreck everything.
