I got my first tattoo when I was like 15. I thought it was the coolest thing ever at the time lol, but now I'm 23 and I'm just like eh about it. it doesn't bug me too much, but its nothing I show off either lol anytime someone asks me about it.I'm always like 'yeah... I know... I was 15' lol

In my opinion, you go through so many changes and phases as a teenager. Making a permanent statement may not be the wisest option. I had an idea for my tattoo and I waited an entire 2 years to see if I still wanted it. I'm sure it's not what anyone wants to hear, but I feel like it's a good way to prevent a possible regret.

I have a seaturtle on my ankle and I love it or on the back of your neck an infinity sign.

If you have to ask others about what to get in my opinion you don't need to get one. I personally know 3 people with an anchor tattoo on their finger, 7 people with it on their foot, and 4 people with an infinity sign. In a few years you'll ask yourself why. I'm happy I waited, I was going to get an anchor, thank The Lord I didn't. Everyone has these tattoos, be origional.

My tattoo is in my moms hand writing, and my sisters. It's a quote and it's original, no one else will ever have my tattoo.

Hi! I'm also 16, have have a few tattoos that I want to get when I turn 18. Personally (and this is a person who avidly LOVES body mods of all sort) don't get a tattoo unless it means something to you. If you have to ask someone else what to get, it's not important enough to you. Maybe it's more of the idea of being able to do it? If it really isn't and you have thought about getting one for a while, sit down for a while and think for yourself about what you want. Do you have any special symbols that mean a lot to you? A family member, god, a book, a movie, or a famous person? How about a quote. Think about something that really affected/affects you and that makes your life. Make sure it is important to you before you get it. I totally say go for it, just as long as you mean it :) have fun, and let us know what you decide. Happy birthday as well!!

It doesn't matter what the age is as long as the tattoo has true significance. If you tattoo zayn malik's face then yes you will regret it (maybe).

Think about personal hardships you've overcome, places you've moved to, people you've lost, draw inspiration from that instead xo

I also got my first one when I had just turned 16 I'm only 19 now and it isn't that I hate the tattoo I got but it could've been done much better and I do wish I waited. make sure it is something that means a lot to you and is relevant to your life, if my dad hadn't passed away I never would've got that tattoo that young, but ill never hate it bc it is in memorial and it reminds me of where I was in my life at that point. now, I have 2 tattoos besides that one, and I just really wish I had waited sometimes.

If you are SURE of your decision, get something that means something to you. Don't get something you will regret in a few years... Make is meaningful that is my only advice for you! Oh, and think reaaaally hard about what you want to get... Mayyybe you should wait just a few more years... Anyway, hope what ever you decide to do, you're going to be happy! :) xx

16 isn't too young, but you need to think about what YOU want and what YOU like, not what others like. It's your body, and it's going to be permanent (or cost a lot and be incredibly painful to remove), so be sure you meditate on it and really think about something that has value to you. I don't necessarily think it has to have meaning, but make sure it's at least original and to your taste. You can always talk to an artist about their ideas, or you can come up with an idea and have that artist build on it if you aren't completely sure. For example, You can bring in a basic idea of let's say, a telephone, because it has some sort of meaning to you. Then you can find an artist whose work really speaks to you, and collaborate with them to create something you'll be proud of. :) Good luck!

A tattoo should be something meaningful and personal. If you can't figure out what is meaningful to you by yourself, you shouldn't get a tattoo.

I don't think a tattoo has to be meaningful personally. I see tattoos like I see piercings or whatever, just more permanent. the only
thing I'd do is get it somewhere easy to cover so if you do regret it later it won't be a bother to hide. hahaha. and I would probably get something super simple because I think they look super cute.

Its annoying how every single girl gets the same tattoo- birds, infinity sign, anchors, and quotes! I think you should get a tatto that you thought of! be original! I would never want to see 5 girls on the street with the same tattoo that I have!

I'm going to take a tattoo that has a meaning, but a little one, at a place that's not visible.. like my friend.. She has a tattoo of a gun that symbolizes her hard life and how she has grown stronger by it

16 is way too young in a couple years you'll want it removed, tattoos are also addicting. Wait a few years you'll come up with a fine piece of art with true meaning behind it.

Zanete - don't judge every girl as the same. I have a "common" tattoo, but I didn't go on Pinterest and say "ooo! That one!" It has a meaning to me & it's not my fault it became popular
